Roldan on 4th place in Spain

GP2 Series: Roldan, quite an amazing drive by you today. How happy are you with your race?

Roldan Rodriguez: I’m very happy! I enjoyed it very much, and the race was very good. At the first corner I could overtake a lot of people and then there was the crash, so it was a good decision with the line, and then I could overtake very hard and the car was very good, so I was very confident in the first laps. Then I didn’t make any mistakes with the tyres, no locking and I could get into a good rhythm. It was very good and I am very happy, and with one more lap I could have taken the podium, but we have a lot of races to do that, so I’m very happy today.

GP2 Series: You were much faster than a lot of guys today: why do you think you were so much faster?

Roldan: I don’t know - I was very confident with the car, and I felt that a lot of people were a lot slower than me, and I knew it was it was my opportunity to overtake them, so I grabbed hard on the steering wheel and said okay, I have to do it, and I drove very, very fast and everything was good.

GP2 Series: You were just a second off a podium today: are you a little disappointed with that?

Roldan: No, no, I’m happy. I didn’t hope to do this result in the second race, so there are a lot of races to do and a lot of work to do, but I think if we are still working like this we can take the podium. I just want to work, do some good races, and I’m sure the results will come.

GP2 Series: Of course you start a lot higher up on the grid tomorrow than you did today: do you have any expectations for the race tomorrow?

Roldan: No. I think the Sunday races are hard because the drivers know it’s the last race of the weekend, so they go very, very hard – I have to look very hard in the mirrors tomorrow in the first corner, and then I’m relaxed. But I will wait and see how the race is, because there are a lot of things that can happen, and I just want to do a good race and get into a good rhythm, that’s all.

GP2 Series: And to get some points.

Roldan: Yeah, of course. I want to win, but if I can’t then fifth or fourth or third is perfect – I just want to do my race, and then the results will come.
