Not much better!
Villa takes second win of season. Minardi Piquet
struggle
Javier Villa followed Timo Glock's lead by scoring his
second win of the 2007 GP2 series at the Nurburgring, the Spaniard leading
from start to finish from his reverse grid pole position.Villa, who had won
his first race at Magny-Cours for Racing Engineering last month, made a
superb start and a stellar opening lap meant he was 2.4 seconds ahead of his
pursuers, led by Arden's Adrian Zaugg.Trident duo Kohei Hirate and Pastor
Maldonado were next up, ahead of Kazuki Nakajima (DAMS), Lucas di Grassi
(ART), Giorgio Pantano (Campos) and series leader Timo Glock (iSport).Pantano
attacked di Grassi into the Michelin-Kurve, clanging into his sidepod. It
sent di Grassi off over the kerbs, and title rival Glock took full advantage
by passing them both. The collision also caused those behind to trip over
themselves, the worst affected being Nicolas Lapierre, who ran out of room
on the run to the NGK chicane and clipped wheels with Ernesto Viso, causing
him to spin out.Villa opened his lead to over five seconds when Zaugg locked
up at the Dunlop hairpin. The close-following Hirate saw his chance and
dived inside him. The faintest of collisions saw Zaugg sent into the gravel,
where he stayed. Nakajima had already passed Maldonado by this point,
with an excellent lunge inside him at Turn 1. He then set his sights on
Hirate, and attacked with all his might. With four laps to go, Nakajima
locked up and ran wide, but caught up with Hirate again, attempting an
audacious around-the-outside move through turns one and two, but just ran
out of room. Hirate held on for best-ever GP2 result, but finished 3.5
seconds behind a slowing Villa - whose biggest scare of the race came when
he straight-lined the chicane with only a couple of laps remaining.Maldonado
finished fourth, ahead of a subdued Glock, di Grassi, Pantano and Viso.
Glock now leads di Grassi by seven points in the title
race.

Race 1
Disappointment for Minardi Piquet
Despite 3 cars in front dropping to the back of the pack
in the first lap Roldan and Xandi failed to capitalise in today's feature
race. Roldan eventually finished 10th finding Petrov exceptionally hard to
pass for way too long finally passing him with 2 laps remaining. The
Spaniard eventually finished 10th 56 seconds behind the winner Glock. GP2
Series leader Timo Glock became the first man to win two races in this
year's championship in round ten at the Nurburgring on Saturday for
iSport. The German lost his pole position advantage at the start when he was
out-dragged off the grid by fellow front-row starter Lucas di Grassi (ART).
Glock tracked di Grassi for the opening nine laps until the Brazilian
pitted. Glock then drove a stunning couple of laps which, coupled with a
stellar pitstop by his team two laps later, meant he rejoined ahead of di
Grassi. Kazuki Nakajima (DAMS) made an early stop and
ran some quick laps to elevate himself to third after the pitstops cycled
through. The only thorn in Glock's side was from the unlikely source of
Jason Tahinci (FMS). Glock got stuck behind the Turkish driver, who had yet
to make his pitstop, and had to endure a couple of slow laps, which allowed
di Grassi and Nakajima to close right up. Glock lunged past at Turn 1 on lap
14, and after that there were no further worries. He won by 2.2 seconds.
Di Grassi, meanwhile, had to hold off Nakajima in the
closing laps, which he did by 0.4 seconds.Giorgio Pantano finished fourth
for Campos Grand Prix, ahead of Kohei Hirate (Trident), whose late-stopping
strategy worked out nicely to give him a fifth placed finish from 14th on
the grid.Hirate passed teammate Pastor Maldonado with
a good move in the Mercedes Arena. Maldonado finished sixth, ahead of Adrian
Zaugg (Arden) and Javier Villa, who will start his Racing Engineering car
from pole position tomorrow in the reverse grid race.
Silverstone winner Adam Carroll was punted into a spin by
Bruno Senna, who received a drive-through penalty.Series front-runner Luca
Filippi was punted off at the first corner by ART's Sebastien Buemi and
retired.

Glock on Pole Rodriguez 13th, Negrao 17th
GP2 Series leader Timo Glock did his best to get his title
campaign back on track at the Nurburgring on Friday afternoon by taking pole
position for round ten of the season. Glock, who has failed to score in the
last four races with iSport, was embroiled in a tight scrap with title rival
Lucas di Grassi of ART Grand Prix for much of the 30-minute session. But on
his final run, Glock managed to find a 0.560-second advantage, having only
been fractionally quicker for the previous 25 minutes.Di Grassi, who is
second in the championship despite not being one of the nine drivers to
score a victory this year, will start second, over a tenth clear of Giorgio
Pantano (Campos). Adrian Zaugg enjoyed his best ever GP2 qualifying session
to start fourth for Arden - although teammate Bruno Senna struggled down in
16th.Silverstone feature race winner Andreas Zuber will start fifth for
iSport, but he will be rueing an off at the Bit-Kehre that appeared to take
the edge off his fresh tyres. Zuber will start alongside Kazuki Nakajima
(DAMS), who deposed Silverstone hero Adam Carroll (FMS) from row three late
on.Carroll will start seventh, ahead of Pastor Maldonado (Trident), Super
Nova teammates Mike Conway and Luca Filippi, and series returnee Sebastien
Buemi (ART Grand Prix).
Of the other comeback drivers, Ernesto Viso (Racing
Engineering) will start 19th and Nicolas Lapierre (DAMS) 21st.
