From Faenza to the whole world: Degree Honoris Causa to Gian Carlo
Minardi
Thursday 10 April 2008, at the hall of St. Absidale Lucia in Bologna, the
Faculty of Chemistry
The University of Bologna will honour Gian Carlo Minardi with a doctorate
Honoris Causa in Products, Materials and Processes for Industrial Chemistry.
The proposal, approved by the entire College of Corsican Faenza and later By
the Council of the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry of Bologna on 28 March
2007, and
Ministry of Education, University and Research on July 2, 2007, was
submitted
By Prof. Angelo Vaccari on behalf of all my colleagues in the Corsican
Degree in Chemistry of Materials and Technologies Ceramics in Faenza, which
had unanimously wanted to emphasize the passionate activity twenty years in
the design and development of materials Innovative for the ultimate Formula
1 man Gian Carlo Minardi, who headed the Minardi Team.
Minardi always managed to build a single-seater equipped with cutting-edge
innovations despite struggling with teams who had economic and technological
availability sharply higher. Simultaneously spreading the name of Faenza
around the world.
Among the various innovations introduced by the Minardi team in the great
circus of Formula 1
--1983, in collaboration with a very small company of Teramo (ATR), and then
wings of the frame and various aerodynamic components in Composite-based
carbon fibres; thus acquired a significant know-how
Innovative materials that also allowed to design, test and build shares
Composite high-tech (and ATR to expand by 2 to
Current 1000);
-- Developing, in the seasons 1993 and 1994, suspensions responsive to
operation
Hydraulic;
-- The implementation - the first in F1 Team-CRP in collaboration with a
Modena
Arca exchange titanium housing, produced with an innovative procedure " Lost
wax "that accoppiava high stiffness to limited thickness and weight;
-- The development of an innovative rear Brake titanium fused with brake
caliper
Rear horizontal;
-- The introduction of a new concept of rear suspension, with the elements
Inserted into a small box molten titanium, which can help reduce the
Turbulence in the rear of the vehicle (very important from the point of visa
Aerodynamic) with lower weight and greater rigidity.
The Minardi Team has been for many a way for technical training, a
fundamental school for opportunities to reach Formula 1: for many of
them this was a Important springboard to access other prestigious Teams such
as Ferrari, McLaren,
Sauber, Toyota Training of many young drivers, such as world champion,
Fernando Alonso, Giancarlo Fisichella, Jarno Trulli, Luca Badoer, Marc Genč
and Mark Webber.

"I am honoured to receive this important recognition, and therefore I
especially want to thank Professor. Angelo Corsican Vaccari of the
Bachelor of Chemistry Materials and Technologies Ceramics in Faenza for
bringing forward this initiative. Until recently I would have never
imagined to receive the title of a Ph.D. Degree since the age of
eighteen years, with difficulty, I was able to take
Diploma in accountancy. I hope to be able to better meet this honor and
I take this opportunity to thank Advance all those who will be present
on April 10 "
Everyone at the Minardi Club San Francisco congratulates Dr. Gian Carlo
Minardi on this fantastic and well deserved Honour!
