THE ITALIAN F3 CHAMPION WILL WIN A SEASON IN F.3000

During a meeting yesterday at Vallelunga between the Italian F3 teams and the top of ACI-CSAI and FPT (Fiat Powertrain Technologies), it was announced that the Italian F3 champion will have the chance to continue his career in Formula 3000 at no charge. ACI-CSAI officially stated that the winner of the 2008 Italian Formula 3 Championship will be given the choice between a 120,000 euros prize money and a free participation to the Italian Formula 3000 Championship the following year.

The initiative, mandated by Coloni Motorsport, the company organizing the series accredited as a springboard for the GP2 Series, offers an interesting opportunity for the Italian Formula 3 Champion, who will have the chance to compete in the same Series from which champions as Jean Alesi (1989), Luca Badoer (1992), Juan Pablo Montoya (1998), Nick Heidfeld (1999) and Vitantonio Liuzzi (2004) emerged.

Enzo Coloni (Coloni Motorsport): "As we have always tried to support Italian teams and drivers, I am of course very happy for this initiative. It is certainly a concrete help for our drivers that, even without a big budget, will have the opportunity to continue their career in Formula 3000 and get closer to professionalism. I thank ACI-CSAI and FPT, also on behalf of the drivers who will benefit from this F3 - F.3000 coordinated program, sure that it will help our talents to follow those basic steps that will launch their careers”
